At the African Mission Foundation, we normally focus entirely on projects in Africa. However, there are sometimes initiatives that align so well with our mission and objectives that we are happy to make an exception.
The Kandakes Foundation is committed to supporting African women trying to find their way in the big city. Many women face challenges regarding integration, social connections, personal development, work, and independence. Kandakes offers support, guidance, and a safe community where women can meet, strengthen, and inspire one another.
The name “Kandakes” refers to the powerful female leaders of ancient Nubia and Ethiopia — a beautiful symbol of the strength, dignity, and resilience of African women today.
At African Mission, we believe that true development takes place not only in Africa itself but also within African communities worldwide. By empowering women, greater stability is created within families and communities. This aligns perfectly with our vision of sustainable support and empowerment.
Our contribution to the Kandakes Foundation focuses on marketing, communication, and PR, among other things. Together, we are working on increasing the foundation’s visibility so that even more women in The Hague and the region can be reached. Additionally, we are contributing ideas regarding the further growth and positioning of the initiative. We are grateful for this special collaboration and have great appreciation for the dedication of all volunteers and those involved with the Kandakes Foundation. Together, we want to contribute to a society in which African women can stand strong, develop their talents, and participate fully in society.
